The bad weather resulted from the delay of the flight.   The bad weather resulted in the delay of the flight.    壞天氣導致班機延誤,result in是導致,result from是由於,可以這樣記:from something一定是原因。另一個常見錯誤是,認為Due to=because of,其實due to更像caused by(起因於),而且前面要加be動詞。    The meeting was cancelled due to the rain.     The cancellation of the meeting is due to the rain.  Part 3. Thank you for considering my request.               I will be grateful for the help.                  I hope you will be able to provide the information. Part 4. Appreciate不是Thank you   I appreciate you for the opportunity.      I appreciate the opportunity.      Thank you for the opportunity.     He thanked for the opportunity.  Part 5. If any question, please let me know. If there is any question, please let me know.

Used with well-defined and explicit Return On Investment success in corporations worldwide, Six Thinking Hats is a simple, effective parallel thinking process that helps people be more productive, focused, and mindfully involved. A powerful tool set, which once learned can be applied immediately! You and your team members can learn how to separate thinking into six clear functions and roles. Each thinking role is identified with a colored symbolic "thinking hat." By mentally wearing and switching "hats," you can easily focus or redirect thoughts, the conversation, or the meeting. The White Hat calls for information known or needed. "The facts, just the facts."  The Yellow Hat symbolizes brightness and optimism. Under this hat you explore the positives and probe for value and benefit. The Black Hat is judgment - the devil's advocate or why something may not work. Spot the difficulties and dangers; where things might go wrong. Probably the most powerful and useful of the Hats but a problem if overused. The Red Hat signifies feelings, hunches and intuition. When using this hat you can express emotions and feelings and share fears, likes, dislikes, loves, and hates. The Green Hat focuses on creativity; the possibilities, alternatives, and new ideas. It's an opportunity to express new concepts and new perceptions. The Blue Hat is used to manage the thinking process. It's the control mechanism that ensures the Six Thinking Hats® guidelines are observed.   Source: http://www.debonogroup.com/six_thinking_hats.php

On the antlers of a dilemma   THE fresh-faced good looks have been lined and drawn by the cares of office. His immaculate English is forsaken for the dignity of immaculate Mandarin. Patient replies to questions come wearily, as if said many times before. Yet, six years into his presidency, Ma Ying-jeou’s hair remains as lush and jet-black as any Chinese Politburo member’s. And, speaking in the presidential palace in Taipei, he remains as unwilling as any leader in Beijing to admit to any fundamental flaws in strategy......

Your voice isn’t very clear. I think the line is breaking up. Can you repeat that? 1) The reception is bad.  2) We have bad reception/a bad connection. reception這個字在這裡代表收訊,特別是手機的收訊,另外一個實用的意思是櫃檯接待處,而櫃檯人員就叫做receptionist。 John just broke up with Ann last week. (John上禮拜才剛和Ann分手) I’m breaking up with you. (我要和你分手) Sue just gone through a bad breakup with her boyfriend.  go through 這個片語指的是:經歷或走過(困難的時期) a bad breakup很難看、很糟糕的分手  an amicable breakup 則是和平分手。 Did you break up amicably?  break這個字,如果出現在這樣的句子: I’m so broke that…. I think I’ll leave/pass it. = I’ll give it a miss. Because I’m so broke. Claire Wang

She discussed about the balance sheet with her boss. (X) She discussed the balance sheet with her boss.

現在,請你自行更正並多唸幾遍,下次用到時,就不會再犯錯了   don’t think we can make a decision on phone. We’ll discuss this with you when we will meet. Sorry! This meeting has taken so much of your time. I suppose that there will not be any conclusion for today. Tomorrow we’ll suggest you a practical plan. Answer: 1. I don’t think we can make a decision on the phone.「在電話中、用打電話的方式」可以說on the phone或者by phone,也就是用on時加冠詞the,用by時則不加the。 2. We’ll discuss this with you when we meet. 3. Sorry! This meeting has taken up so much of your time. 4. I don’t suppose that there will be any conclusion today.suppose、think、believe… 5. Tomorrow we’ll suggest a practical plan to you.suggest用來表示向某人「提出」某事時,應該用「suggest+事+to+人」的句型。 Photo via http://tinyurl.com/jwd3h68

Have you ever calculated how much time you spend sitting in a day? According to statistics, people spend an average of 9.3 hours sitting- more than the 7.7 hours we spend on sleeping per day. Sitting is remarkably a) prevalent, but very few of us know that there are serious health consequences to it. According to a research conducted in New South Wales, Australia, sitting increases the risk of dying prematurely, even if you 1) engage in regular daily exercise. What’s more, sitting can “cause anything from lower back pain to high cholesterol, diabetes, and obesity,"said Mladen Golubic, medical director of the Center for Lifestyle Medicine at Cleveland Clinic's Wellness Institute. Some people even call sitting the new smoking of our generation. There are two creative ways that help reduce sitting time at work. First, you can set up a standing desk at your office so you are able to stand while you work. Cia Bernales, web producer at Fast Company, wrote an article on how she 2) persisted in standing and how the new working posture made her healthier although her body was not used to standing for hours at first. Her feet went numb and her lower back hurt at the end of the day. However, after a year of standing, she decided not to go back to sitting anymore. While this might sound a bit extreme, it does avoid slouching and b) hunching over. You might also find yourselves taking more breaks and walks around the office after adopting the approach. Nilofer Merchant is a business innovator who is helping companies grow their business. She advises that we turn our one-on-one coffee meetings or conference room meetings into “walking” ones. “You will be surprised at how fresh air drives fresh thinking,” she said. She has walking meetings 3) to the tune of 20-30 miles a week and it has completely changed her life and work style. She mentioned that “walking meetings” itself is an c) out-of-the-box idea, which leads us to think “out of the box” at the same time. In this way, it might help us to look at things and solve problems with different perspectives. You will have to make sure what career you would like to engage in before looking for a job. Andy is engaging in psychological research. He has a crush on the new girl in the office because she has an engaging smile. Persist in堅持Persist 常和介系詞in一起用。Jessica sets strict demands on herself, and she persists in working hard to achieve sales target. “Energy and Persistence conquer all things.”- Benjamin Franklin. 富蘭克林 To the tune of 總計 Tune是歌曲的「旋律」。She wrote a tune and hummed it to me. The company performed well last year. They had profits to the tune of $100 million. Fast Company & TED Talk Photo via http://tinyurl.com/o72bkmc
